is a low-cost, functional, novel point-of-care uroflow meter that enables Primary Care Physicians (PCP) and urologists to deliver high-quality, inexpensive LUTS care. The StreamDx device is a small, self-contained portable device into which patients can void naturally in the comfort of their own homes.* The flow rate and volume data collected by StreamDx is wirelessly transferred to a mobile device and uploaded to a cloud server. There, a detailed frequency and voiding diary as well as a voiding score is generated; this data is then integrated into a patient's electronic medical record for review by his PCP or urologist. The reports can be generated prior to an office visit, saving office and clinic time, and also provide more convenience for the patient.
Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS)
is a disease that affects 33% of men over the age of 50. Currently, this amounts to 16.5 million men in the United States. LUTS most commonly expresses itself with insufficient bladder emptying, urgency, frequency, weak stream and nocturia. Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) with bladder outlet obstruction is the main cause of LUTS in men over the age of 50, and some studies have linked LUTS to cardiovascular disease. LUTS has been shown to substantially increase the likelihood of depression and significantly impact Quality of Life (QoL) in aging males. LUTS is also associated with increased mortality and often results in loss of independence. Left untreated, LUTS is a progressive disease that does not improve over time. Annual costs associated with LUTS range from $1 billion to $4 billion dollars per year.
